Approximately 50 people attended the blessing ceremony

Dargaville pontoon open for use
In October the brand new Dargaville pontoon was opened with a blessing by members of Te Houhanga Marae. The karakia was followed by a short speech from the Mayor. Approximately 50 people attended the ceremony including iwi, hapū, community members, Council staff and construction staff.
The work is part of Kaipara KickStart, led by the Council and funded by the Provincial Growth Fund. It is the first of the Kaipara Wharves projects to be completed. The pontoon will enable a wider range of boats and larger vessels to tie up and berth in Dargaville, as well as creating all tide access for smaller vessels.
