Visitors to Mangawhai Heads can now enjoy easier access to the surf beach following completion of the surf beach carpark expansion project. 

Mangawhai Road has reopened following the completion of one of the largest and most complex slip repair projects ever undertaken in Kaipara.

Mangawhai Road between Coal Hill Road and Cames Road will be under a 24/7 closure from 6am on Saturday 20 June until 6pm on Sunday 5 July, to allow road crews to make urgent repairs at the slip site. 

Work to build resilience into the middle section of Cames Road in Mangawhai is now complete.  

Kaipara District Council has introduced immediate load restrictions on the Hakaru bridge on Kaiwaka–Mangawhai Road to keep the community safe and protect the bridge structure.

Work to extend the Mangawhai Heads surf beach carpark kicks off 18 May.

Work is set to begin to replace the narrow concrete hill section of Cames Road in Mangawhai.
