Interment

Requesting an Interment

At least two working days prior to an interment taking place, an Application for Interment form must be completed and the relevant fees paid. The form requires specific detail to be completed, including the expected time of arrival at the cemetery and the dimensions of the casket or ash container. Often this is done through your funeral director but if you have any queries, please contact Council.

The current fees for purchasing a plot and for interment are set out here. Fees are set for all Kaipara District Council administered cemeteries. For more information or clarification on which fees may apply in your circumstance, please contact Council.

All fees must be paid in full before a burial can take place. Council does not offer a credit facility. Payment can be made in person at either of Council’s offices or by internet banking.

Opening Hours (Visiting)

The Council’s cemeteries are open to the public seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, however Council may restrict vehicle access, as necessary. When visiting a cemetery please be respectful and mindful of others, particularly if there is an interment or other remembrance ceremony taking place.

Interment Hours

The usual hours during which an interment can take place are Monday to Friday 10.00am – 3:30pm

Additional fees may apply for interment outside of these hours during the week, and any time on weekends or Public Holidays. For more information or clarification of additional fees, please see Fees and Charges or contact Council.

Wreathes, Floral Tributes and Other Adornments

Flowers, wreathes and floral tributes may be placed on graves during a funeral ceremony. After seven (7) days from the date of interment all adornments will be relocated to the concrete berm or transferred to the Tribute Pick Up Area and marked with the name of the interred person/s. This is to allow Council to level-off the surface of the grave to be sown down in grass. After a grave has been levelled and sown, artificial or natural cut flowers may be placed in the container set in recess in the base of the memorial but must be confined to the concrete berm.
