The Rural Travel Fund is designed to help subsidise travel for junior sports teams (5 to 19 year olds) participating in their local competition.
The linking of the KiwiSport Fund to the Rural Travel Fund will address an identified barrier to increased numbers and opportunities for children in playing or gaining skills in sport.
Applications to the Fund must show travel funding used:
- for either more students to access current opportunities or for students who currently participate to access new opportunities;
- for either during school or out-of-school times;
- for either primary or secondary school aged students; and
- in partnership with a school or club.
2023 Funding dates
Round 1 applications open 01 March and close at 4.30pm on 31 March.
Round 2 applications open 01 August and close at 4.30pm on 31 August.
There are two rounds of the Sport NZ/Kiwisport Rural Travel Fund per year, one in March and one in August to represent both summer and winter seasons. A total of approximately $10,000 each round is available for distribution for winter and summer sports.
Please email completed applications to: email@example.com or post them to: Private Bag 1001, Dargaville 0340.
Once applications close, applications are reviewed and the Committee meet to make their decisions. Following this applicants are notified of the outcome. Meeting dates for the committee (historical and upcoming) can be found on the meetings page.
When your project is complete, you will need to fill out an Accountability Form detailing how you spent the money.
