Parking and Traffic, Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaws

In 2020, Kaipara District Council began reviewing its Consolidated General Bylaw (CGB) and decided to separate sections of the bylaw into standalone bylaws.

As part of this work, council has reviewed:

  • Part 4 – Nuisances
  • Part 6 – Traffic
  • Part 7 – Solid Waste

We are now proposing to:

  1. Create a new Parking and Traffic Bylaw
This new bylaw would provide the framework for Council to manage parking and traffic controls across the district.
We would also remove Part 6 (Traffic) and related parking and traffic provisions from the Consolidated General Bylaw.

  2. Create a new Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw
This new bylaw would support the management and minimisation of waste, regulate the collection, transport and disposal of waste, and help protect public health and safety.
We would also remove Part 7 (Solid Waste) and related waste provisions from the Consolidated General Bylaw.

  3. Revoke Part 4 (Nuisances) of the CGB
Our review found that matters covered by Part 4 of the Consolidated General Bylaw (Nuisances) are already addressed through other legislation or can be incorporated into the proposed Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw.
