New library for Mangawhai?
The Council will be consulting on a proposal to secure land for a future new library in Mangawhai as part of their long-term planning. Towards a Better Kaipara, the Council’s Long Term Plan 2021-2031 will determine where the Council focuses over the next 10 years.
We recognise that Mangawhai has outgrown its current library facilities and we’re taking steps towards building a new one. The proposal is to secure a site for the library in the next three years and to start the design of the new library.
If the library is supported, we’re also asking for feedback on where you think it should go. We’ve considered a number of sites but believe those with best potential for now and the future are Mangawhai Village or Mangawhai Central.
The library would be funded through a mix of development contributions, financial contributions and loans. Full details will be in the consultation document, available from 01 March.
Elected Members will be at the Mangawhai Tavern market on Saturday 20 March to discuss this and other proposals put forward. Look for more information at kaipara.govt.nz/LTP
