Meet Katherine
I’m a sixth-generation Kaipara local, born in Dargaville and raised between Matakohe and Maungatūroto.
After more than 20 years building my planning career in the Whangārei and Waikato districts, I have returned home to bring my skills and experience back to the district I care about. Since joining Kaipara District Council in 2021 as a Senior RMA Planner, I’ve progressed through team lead roles and now serve as Manager, Planning and Policy.
My work spans district planning, processing private plan changes, bylaws, and policy development. Recent highlights include leading the notification of the Proposed District Plan and Development Contributions Policy review. I’m involved in council meetings, hearings, stakeholder engagement and cross-council coordination, working closely with other teams to front-foot government reforms and plan for Kaipara’s future.
I live on a lifestyle block in Te Kōpuru where I host accommodation in two cottages on my property, and spend time with my family, highland cattle, suffolk sheep, goat, chickens and cats. I love being outdoors, whether it’s fishing in the harbour, exploring the west coast beaches or gardening at home.
Kaipara is more than where I live, and I’m proud to help shape the environment we live and play in. I’m committed to making Kaipara a better place for everyone.
