Over the summer period, our roading teams have been focussed on delivering this year’s reseal programme. 

Major upgrades on two of the district’s floodgates have been completed recently, strengthening the resilience of our local waterways and reducing flood risk for nearby homes, farmland, and roads.

Council’s planned programme of water infrastructure renewals rolls on this month, with $3.6 million of new watermains for Dargaville and Maungatūroto.

Work is set to begin on Dargaville’s Victoria Street to strengthen the road and improve its storm resilience.

The Red Severe Weather Warning for Northland is now lifted. The worst of the storm has passed, and the forecast is westerly winds and showers for the next few days.

Kaipara libraries summer reading programme

An official opening was held to celebrate the new, modern, warm, dry, healthy homes for older people.

Communities across Kaipara are now home to 28 new official New Zealand citizens. 

UPDATE 9pm: The repair has been completed and we've got water flowing into the treatment plant.

The report was formally adopted following unanimous approval by elected members at the council meeting on 26 November. 

A long-awaited decision has been reached on the Dargaville Town Hall, with elected members voting at the 10 December council meeting to demolish the annex building as well as the Northern Wairoa War Memorial Hall.
