Rehabilitations were in full swing throughout March, with significant progress being made on Victoria Street in Dargaville and at the Lawrence Road / Valley Road intersection in Mangawhai.

Maungatūroto Library is temporarily closed due to a water leak next door that has affected the library.

By the end of February 2026, 160,000m2 (53%) of the 300,000m2 of road resealing planned for the 2025/2026 financial year had been completed. The remainder is programmed during April 2026.

It’s been a busy few weeks across Northland, and I’m pleased to share some of the good work happening both in our district and around the region. 

The multi-year, multi-million-dollar Kaipara slip remediation programme has continued in full swing over the last twelve months.  

Over the summer period, our roading teams have been focussed on delivering this year’s reseal programme. 

Major upgrades on two of the district’s floodgates have been completed recently, strengthening the resilience of our local waterways and reducing flood risk for nearby homes, farmland, and roads.

Council’s planned programme of water infrastructure renewals rolls on this month, with $3.6 million of new watermains for Dargaville and Maungatūroto.
