Kaipara District Council has reduced rates below its Long Term Plan budgets while continuing to prioritise dependable roading.

It’s been a busy few weeks across Northland, and I’m pleased to share some of the good work happening both in our district and around the region. 

Northland’s councils are making strong progress toward establishing the region’s new water services council controlled organisation (CCO).

Michael Day has been appointed as interim chief executive of Kaipara District Council, following a council decision on Thursday 19 February. 

The wet summer we have been experiencing has brought its share of challenges, but it has also delivered some real positives for our district. Water tanks and reservoirs remain comfortably topped up, our rivers are flowing at healthy levels, and the regular rainfall has supported an excellent growing season for our farmers.

Over the summer period, our roading teams have been focussed on delivering this year’s reseal programme. 

Council’s planned programme of water infrastructure renewals rolls on this month, with $3.6 million of new watermains for Dargaville and Maungatūroto.

Northland’s four councils are working hand in hand to present a shared vision for the future of the region to central government.
