About AlphaOne
We have partnered with AlphaOne (a Palmerston North based company), to provide a secure, easy to use online system for applying and monitoring the status of your consent application.
AlphaOne is a purpose built, web-based portal for local government to manage the entire consent process and is implemented by a number of other councils nationwide.
What do I need before I apply?
To apply for a building consent through the online consenting system, you will need the following:
- Access to a smartphone, tablet or computer
- A valid email address
- Your plans, specifications and supporting documents saved in PDF format
How to apply for a consent?

Once you have registered, you will be sent an automated email to verify your email address is correct. Follow the verification email link and you will be able to submit your first building consent application.

What if I don't have a tablet, computer or smartphone?
If your building consent is for a new residential building or alteration, or if you are putting a new garage or shed on your property, you will, in most cases, have contracted a person to do the work for you. These contractors can submit the building consent application on your behalf.
If your consent is not being handled by a contractor and you do not have access to a computer yourself, we recommend dropping in to your local library branch, where internet and computer access is provided for free.
