Council has received an application from the Tinopai Community Kids Project Trust Board for the proposed use of Council land located at 86 Komiti Road, Tinopai. Council is seeking feedback from the community and adjoining property owners as part of a consultation process before finalising any decisions. All feedback received will be assessed and taken into consideration.
The Tinopai Community Kids Project Trust Board is requesting to use this land for the provision of a BMX track and recreational facilities for the community’s children and young persons. They plan to include a BMX track, skate ramp, 4 metre x 4 metre concrete surface for handball/basketball hoop, playground equipment and facilities. The proposed plan includes ensuring facilities and amenities are safe and to a good standard. The Tinopai Community Kids Project Trust Board will include measures to reduce potential noise, disturbance or impact to surrounding properties with fencing boundaries, only non-motorised bicycles, scooters, skateboards allowed, peer/user group respect and rule setting and controlling access.
The Trust is applying for the use of the land from Council and plan to fund the development and build of such facilities through fundraising and external grants and have not applied to Council for any funding. Any approved build or development will be of a non-permanent nature i.e. can be undone or removed if required to fit any future changes in needs or use of this land.
