Papers Past contains more than three million pages of digitised New Zealand newspapers and periodicals. The collection covers the years 1839 to 1945 and over 100 titles from throughout New Zealand.

The newspapers in Papers Past are a good source of information about the social and political events of the times. Researchers of family history and whakapapa (genealogy) will find the shipping news, births, deaths and marriages of interest. Advertising also features strongly.

Run by the National Library of New Zealand and funded by the New Zealand Government, Digital NZ is aimed at making New Zealand digital content easier to find, share and use. To date there are over 25 million digital items available to view from over 120partner organisations.

Kaihu Valley History Journals

Access to 22 research journals complied by Roger Mold over seven years, which relate to the history of the Kaihu Valley, North Ripiro West Coast and South Hokianga in Northland, New Zealand. They cover the period from the arrival of the first nation people (Maori) in about 1300 AD to the year 1900, and are collectively titled "Through the Window of Time". Features are:

The extensive compendia are based on local Maori history and legends, personal journals kept by the people such as Joel Polack, one of the first merchants in the area, missionaries, people of significance, his own descendants' diaries, and research gleaned from national and international archives and libraries.
Of particular interest for many will be information and photographs on the lives of 50 people who had an influence in the area.
Other journals include local industries, infrastructures such as schools, halls and churches, land ownership, genealogies and a military section.
