The Mayor of Kaipara District Council, Greg Gent, has today announced his intention to resign after the Council meeting on Tuesday 14 November 2017.

NZTA - More consistent speed limits to improve safety through Kaiwaka
Changes to speed limits on State Highway 1 through Kaiwaka township will make it safer for residents and road users.
Following support and positive public feedback and consultation the NZ Transport Agency is introducing more consistent speed limits, which means there will be lower limits over a greater stretch of the highway.
Appointment of Crown Manager
Kaipara District Council welcomes today’s announcement from the Associate Minister of Local Government Jacqui Dean of the appointment of Peter Winder as Crown Manager. The continued Crown Support and direction on a range of outstanding legal matters before Council will allow the Elected Members to continue to focus on the future development of Kaipara, whilst ensuring an efficient and effective resolution to the historic legal actions.
Employment Court strikes out Council case against a Former Chief Executive

The Employment Court has ruled that Kaipara District Council’s case against its former Chief Executive Jack McKerchar is struck out because of a 2011 agreement reached between Mr McKerchar and the previous Council that the parties would not sue each other in the future.

Mangawhai Water Supplies

Kaipara District Council (KDC) is pleased to announce that support has been arranged to assist the Mangawhai community access water deliveries to their water tanks that are running dry through the lack of recent rain.

Based on community feedback to the draft Concept Plan for Alamar Crescent, Kaipara District Council plans to retain the simplicity and low-key feel for the area and only make some safety improvements at this point. 
Taharoa Domain plans finalised and education centre secured
On Monday 26 September 2016 Kaipara District Council adopted the new Kai Iwi Lakes (Taharoa Domain) Reserve Management Plan 2016, setting the direction of the management of the Kai Iwi Lakes for the next decade.
22/09/2016 Maungaraho Rock climb re-opens
The spectacular scenery from the top of Maungaraho Rock will again be opened up for those keen to make the climb to the top.
The Summit Track was closed at the end of 2015 because of safety concerns. The old cable and ladder have gone, replaced with a much safer chain grab system. While the means to get to the top of this impressive peak is now safe and secure, it will still take fitness and ability to make the climb, General Manager Community, Venessa Anich says.

03/05/2016 Court rules on appeal
The Supreme Court today declined leave for the Mangawhai Residents and Ratepayers Association (MRRA) to appeal the Court of Appeal’s dismissal of their appeal.  The Court awarded costs of $2,500 against the MRRA.

26/02/2016 Local Government Funding Agency approves Council for funding
The New Zealand Local Government Funding Agency has confirmed Kaipara District Council is now able to join the agency. This means that Council will be able to borrow at lower, more competitive rates than it has been able to previously. 14/04/16 We will be replacing parts of playgrounds at Maungaturoto, Paparoa and Jaycee Park, Dargaville immediately after the school holidays [from 2 May]. Signs will be installed stating the playground is closed while this replacement is completed.
Subject to good weather Maungaturoto will be closed for one week, Paparoa a couple of days and Jaycee Park a few hours.
We undertake a two yearly external audit of all playgrounds to ensure they continue to meet the New Zealand playground standards. The work planned is part of an on-going replacement programme developed as a result of the audit.
