Mangawhai coastal and Harbour Reserves Management Plan Project Update (November 2007) 50kb
Suggestion Form 118kb

Introduction

Kaipara District Council (KDC) and Northland Regional Council (NRC) are joining forces to provide for improved integrated management of the Mangawhai Harbour. KDC is developing a Reserves Management Plan for the Mangawhai Coastal and Harbour Reserve Areas, while NRC is working on the development of a Mooring Management Plan and Harbour Safety Management Plan for Mangawhai Harbour. KDC and NRC recognise that these three projects are interrelated with one having implications for the others. For example, the location and type of shore-based facilities identified in the Mangawhai Reserves Management Plan will influence the location and number of moorings identified in the Mooring Management Plan. Therefore, KDC, NRC and other parties involved will continue to work collaboratively to achieve the desired outcomes.

Intention to Prepare Draft Management Plan for Mangawhai Coastal and Harbour Reserve Areas

In December 2006 Council notified its intention to prepare a Reserves Management Plan for the Mangawhai coastal and harbour reserve areas. The period for making suggestions has now closed. Council received 29 responses containing a large number of suggestion points. All of the suggestions will be considered in preparing the draft Management Plan to guide the future use, management and development of the reserve areas. Following the release of the draft Management Plan there will be a formal submission and hearing process, after which Council will issue its final decision.
