The Kaipara District Economic Development Trust otherwise referred to as Kaipara Development Agency.

The Kaipara District Council established the Trust on 2 November 2001.

The Council has power to:

Appoint Trustees and fill any vacancies that arise during the term

Monitor performance

Remove Trustees

Vary or revoke the Deed of Trust

Wind up the Trust

Nature and scope of activities to be provided by Kaipara Development Agency

Objects of the Trust

The Objects of the Trust are to:

Promote the economic and social well being of the community of the Kaipara District;

Promote and provide for the economic, social, recreational community and cultural well being and needs of the Kaipara District community;

Access funds and resources and utilise them for the general economic benefit of the Kaipara District community;

Support and develop economic initiatives by individual members and groups of members of the Kaipara District Community with the object of promoting their economic independence;

Promote, foster and develop a dynamic and sustainable economy in the Kaipara District for the benefit of the Kaipara District community;

To carry out the goals of the Council including the encouragement of existing businesses to remain and grow in the Kaipara District, to increase the level of employment in the Kaipara District and to increase the average wage and the overall capital value of the Kaipara District.

Key Performance Targets

Performance is judged against targets set annually in a business plan submitted for Council approval which show progress against the strategic aims of:

Supporting the development and growth of existing business and the creation of new business

Encouraging inward investment

Lifting quality of services and range of goods provided within the District

Promoting the quality and diversity of the District with the view of raising attitudes and aspirations within the District

Further develop education and training

Improve infrastructure access into and within Kaipara District
