Key issues

Increasing environmental standards covering reticulation, treatment and final disposal

Growth within communities and ability of communities to fund required upgrades

Limited disposal options

Ability to provide treatment and disposal options that are aligned with cultural preferences

What we do now

Council provides wastewater collection and treatment systems in Kaiwaka, Maungaturoto, Dargaville, Glinks Gully and Te Kopuru.

Why we do it

To protect public and environmental health through economic and environmentally sustainable collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater

Wastewater contributes to the following Community Outcomes:

How this activity or service contributes:

Sustainable economy

To process the wastewater generated from industry and commercial activities

What we agree to provide to the community

Prioritisation of any upgrades or extensions to the system will be based on community consultation and statutory requirements. To treat wastewater in identified communities with appropriate treatment facilities

Measuring progress
