Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

A romantic thriller starring Julianne Hough, Josh Duhamel and Cobie Smulders.– based on  a novel by Nicholas Sparks - the King of super-romances. (Seven of Spark’s books including  The Notebook, Dear John, The Lucky One  have been turned into blockbuster movies). Safe Haven is the story of a woman with a dark past , who moves to a small town looking to avoid relationships and keep her secrets hidden.  Sure to be another crowd-pleaser!

 World War Z by Max Brooks

 

 Brad Pitt is to star in the movie based on this ‘oral history’ of the global zombie war....

This book got great reviews – and has great advice on how to defeat the enemy in a battle with brain-eating zombies! Creepy, fascinating, dark, and creative apocalypse fiction (well hopefully it’s fiction!?)!. Movie release date is not until June 2013 but it is getting plenty of buzz already.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Oh! This book is so fabulous and the movie adaptation is shaping up to be one of 2012’s biggest releases! Glittering parties, unraveling lives, secret obsessions, all set in 1920s New York...Jay Gatsby is a man who has everything but the one thing he truly longs for. Leonardo DeCaprio stars as Gatsby, Carey Mulligan is Daisy, and Tobey Maguire is Nick Carraway, the Midwesterner who witnesses the tragedy and obsession. Directed by Baz Luhrmann- of Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge.

This is the first ever adaptation of one of popular teen author Judy Blume’s books. Willa Holland stars as Davey, who’s father was murdered when a break-in at his store goes horribly wrong.  Davey, her mother and her little brother are left shattered, and the family flees to New Mexico, to escape the painful memories. In New Mexico Davey meets Wolf, a mysterious boy who understands her without asking questions. Slowly she begins to piece the broken fragments of her life together again. Judy Blume has generations of fans, and is a writer with real insight so this movie has a lot of people waiting for its release!

The Vow by Kim and Krickitt Carpenter

Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn the Movie has been separated into two parts. Part I is  due to be released November 2011, but fans have to wait until November 2012 for the final instalment in this epic series. Will feature Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner of course!

The book has won multiple awards and garnered rave reviews.

Classic book prolific Morpurgo about a horse that is sold to the army during World War I tries to find his way back to Albert, the young boy who owned him before the war.

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich

Based on the super popular Stephanie Plum series by  Janet Evanovich One for the Money kicks off the story. Katherine Heigl stars as Stephanie Plum who must blackmail her cousin Vinnie for a job as a bounty hunter when she loses her job. Only problem being - she's the worst bounty hunter imaginable. Get ready for a good laugh!

One of America's most respected presidents gets a gothic-makeover as a vampire-hunter  in this funny and absurd novel. Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper are to star. This author also gave Austen a make-over in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies....

Keira Knightley is to play Anna in this adaptation of the Leo Tolstoy's classic  about  Anna, the wife of a government official, who escapes her loveless marriage with a passionate affair with a young Count Vronsky. Jude Law and Aaron Johnson are also to star, and it will be headed by Atonement director Joe Wright.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

Super popular book about a young orphan living in a Parisian train station who tries to uncover the mystery behind an automaton left to him by his late father.

To be directed by mega-awesome Martin Scorsese. Asa Butterfield has been cast as  the orphan, Jude Law as  his father, and Sacha Baron Cohen as the villainous station inspector....a bit of a move away  from his character in Borat!

The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson

Johnny Depp gets involved in another Hunter S. Thompson adaptation!  Hunter S. Thompson’s book chronicles the boozy adventures of an American journalist working in Puerto Rico in the '50s.

Depp became friends with Thompson while researching his role in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This should be a cool film too.
