The New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults celebrate outstanding books for children and young adult by New Zealand authors and illustrators.

The awards acknowledges excellence in the following categories: Picture Book Award, Esther Glenn Junior Fiction Award, Elsie Locke Non-Fiction Award, Young Adult Fiction Award, Russell Clark Illustration Award and Te Kura Pounamu Award.

The 2016 finalists have been announced and are featured below.
