  Statement of Proposal - Wastewater Drainage Policy and Wastewater Drainage Bylaw 2016

Council would like more feedback on the Statement of Proposal for the Wastewater Drainage Policy and Wastewater Drainage Bylaw. Therefore the submission period has been extended until 4.30pm Monday 01 August 2016.

15/06/2016 An open letter from Kaipara District Council to the Mangawhai Community Wastewater Scheme Advisory Panel.
The Council appointed a group of ratepayers from within the Mangawhai community to review the Mangawhai wastewater scheme. This advisory panel provided independent and objective input into the Council’s decision-making processes around the possible extension of the scheme and presented it in July 2015. The Council has responded to the report, and specifically the 22 recommendations given, under theme headings.
14/06/2016 Mangawhai’s Alamar Crescent is in line for a spruce-up, with the Council proposing some improvements that should result in more parking, better safety for pedestrians and more. Mangawhai people are invited to provide their thoughts on the concepts.

Kaipara District Council has awarded its Regulatory Services contract to Armourguard as part of a joint procurement process with Whangarei District Council.
31/05/2016 Return to fully-elected Council - release from  Associate Local Government Minister

Associate Local Government Minister Louise Upston is encouraging locals to get involved in the local council elections, through voting or standing. She has also announced she will be appointing a Crown Observer to support the newly elected Council and a Crown Manager to deal with outstanding legal matters. 
30/05/2016 Northland leads way with Transportation Alliance establishment:  Kaipara District Council has joined with the three other Northland Councils, Far North and Whangarei District Councils and Northland Regional Council, and NZ Transport Agency in a collaborative alliance for roading and transport. The 'go-live' date is 1 July, 2016. See FAQs.

Open Fire Season - From Midnight Friday 19 February 2016
Pursuant to Section 22(2) of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977 the Whangarei and Kaipara District Councils hereby declare an Open Fire Season to be in force from midnight Friday 19 February 2016 until further notice.
The “Open” status applies to all Whangarei and Kaipara District Council areas except Limestone and Rabbit Islands where a permanent Prohibited Season is in place.
This “Open” season does not apply to any State areas administered by the Department of Conservation.
Anyone lighting a fire in the open is reminded that they may still be held liable for the consequences arising from the fire and care must be taken to avoid fire spread.
